Abstract

I am enclosing for your information a copy of the request for an oral hearing in the Fourth Commit tee of the United Nations General Assembly by the Delegate of the "Nationalist Party" of Puerto Rico in the United States, Julio Pinto Gandia (A/c. 4/239, 15 October 1953). This petition was circulated at the request of the Polish Delegation at the outset of yesterday's meeting of the Commi t tee . 1fe did not oppose its circulation for two reasons: (a) opposit ion on our part to circulating the petition would have placed u s in the position of attempting to withhold information from the Committee; (b) if we had opposed its circulation, the vote on this matter would have come at a time when a very large number of our friends in the Committee had not yet taken their seats...
